Workshops

Custom-designed workshops & retreats are facilitated through the Office of Academic and Community Engagement for departments and teams across campus. Workshops are shaped around each team’s specific needs and goals, drawing on anonymous input gathered from the team and its leadership. Sessions can take the form of a single workshop or a longer retreat, and each is designed to produce something the team can use going forward, such as a charter, an agreement, a plan, or another deliverable suited to what the team needs.

Departments interested in scheduling a workshop can contact the Office of Academic and Community Engagement.

Lead @ 3

Launched in 2022 and hosted by the Office of Academic and Community Engagement, Lead @ 3 is a leadership speaker series that highlights the real stories behind professional growth and success. It’s a space where faculty and staff come together to hear unique leadership perspectives, reflect on their own paths, and gain insights into what it means to lead in the workplace, in the community, and at home.

Each program features a guest speaker who shares three meaningful pieces of advice drawn from their leadership journey. Held three times a semester at 3 p.m., each hour-long session is designed to offer practical wisdom and spark thoughtful dialogue across campus.

Dialogues

Dialogues is a lunch-and-learn speaker series that brings together faculty and staff from across the institution to explore a thematic area with a UGA faculty subject-matter expert. Hosted once every semester, each 90-minute session opens with a framing of the topic by the faculty member, followed by small-group discussions. Lunch is provided.

Faculty Writing Retreats

Faculty writing retreats provide dedicated writing time for faculty across the UGA community. Each retreat opens with brief introductions, where participants share a writing goal for the session, followed by a period of quiet, focused, intensive writing time. The group reconvenes to check in on progress before closing with an intensive writing sprint.

This new series launches in fall 2026. Whether you’re working on an article, book chapter, or grant proposal, the retreat offers dedicated time and a supportive community to help you make progress.
